I would like to thank Deb Wolfe for sending me this great fan strip of Ralf the Destroyer. Deb is a fan on Facebook and I had the pleasure of chatting with her there. She is also working on a strip of her own called “The Frenetic Adventures of Fred Barlowe” over at Comic Genesis. I think she did a great job and I do enjoy the gag having been a fan of all the Spielberg TV animation from the 90s.

For all those German speaking readers out there (Germany ranks forth in visits according to Google Analytics) Ralf the Destroyer is being translated into your native tongue. So far the comic network site “Streifenhoernchen” is only in its Beta format and there are only a few “Ralf” strips up but the translator did a great job finding a font and justifying it to fit in the word balloons.

Ralf got a mention in the “aliens category and listed second behind “Zorphbert and Fred” by Dawn Griffin who I had the pleasure of meeting at the Wizard Philadelphia Comic Con this summer. Spotlight On Ralf the Destroyer

Today Ralf the Destroyer is being featured on the So Entertain Me Network website. The Spotlight on Comics article is featured on their main page for comics.

The highly flattering article is certainly appreciated and if you’re like me, you’ll find yourself heading back there again. The So Entertain Me site focuses on Sci-Fi, Gaming and Comics… what’s not to like?

Also, their site has been very supportive of Ralf the Destroyer (by sponsoring Ralf with ad space etc) so be sure to show them some love and leave some comments!

April Fool’s Switcheroo

I was contacted by Wil Panganiban that there was a plan afoot to do a comics swap as the syndicated guys did a few years ago. So today on Comics Sherpa the Ralf the Destroyer strip was done by Donald Mathias (who does Peanizles) and I did a panel called Long Story Short (by Daniel Beyer). It was interesting working in a different style and everyone who participated seemed to be having a good time, so be sure to go check it out.

Don’t Pick the Flowers

I was recently contacted by David Hurley about doing an interview about Ralf the Destroyer for the blog section of his webcomic site, “Don’t Pick the Flowers”. I was (of course) quite happy to do so and it turn out well.

Ralf the Destroyer on Sherpa

Today Ralf the Destroyer (Reloaded) is on Comics Sherpa at GoComics.com The strip is starting from the beginning and will update three days a week for the first few weeks and then move to update five times a week to eventually catch up to the current schedule.

If any readers have a GoComics account, I encourage you to favorite Ralf the Destroyer. There are a number of comics, that have managed to glean a syndication contract, that had their start on Comics Sherpa.

So adding some positive comments there like: “Why isn’t this strip syndicated?”, “how can I get this in my newspaper?”, can’t hurt either

I’ve had a personal profile of Facebook for a while now, but I’ve finally decided to set up a fan page for Ralf the Destroyer. I discovered a couple of RSS plug-ins and added them to both the Profile and Fan pages. If you have a Facebook account I invite you to add the Ralf the Destroyer Fan Page to it, just click on the badge in the left sidebar. Regular updates should occur.

Ralf and Lexi

Here’s a sketch of Ralf and an up coming character named Lexi. She’s a character I originally developed for a previous strip called “Solomon Road” (syndicated through DBR Media). I modeled her off of a little girl my son played with at church. I just liked the character so much I brought her over to Ralf the Destroyer, since Solomon Road ended after about a two year run.

She’s a feisty little girl who is carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders. I drew this picture to compare the similarities in structure between Ralf and human children. If your browser has a Flash plug-in you can read more about her on the Character Page

Reddick Strikes Again!

Well I have to say my holiday was made just a little bit brighter when I received a note from David Reddick letting me know he posted a couple of sketches he did of Ralf the Destroyer on his “Legend of Bill” website.

Dave is a great cartoonist and you may recognize his other strips, “Rod & Barry” and “Gene’s Journal” as well. His drawings always look like he has a great time drawing them and this was no exception! Thanks Dave!
