Site Update

by Scott Lincoln on March 28, 2012 at 4:15 am
Posted In: News, Events and Secrets

While I’m sure everyone would prefer a comic update, the Ralf the Destroyer Site has been long over due for its own update. Many have been quick (but polite) to point out the navigation issues that were affecting the reading experience. I have managed to update the site to a newer version of Comicpress and that seems to have resolved the navigation problems as far as I can tell.

Of course now the site is pretty disheveled, so there will need to be some work cleaning up the design. I am by no means a professional webmaster, so my brain is fried just getting me to this point. However, I do know more needs to be done to get it to a more polished state. If anyone has recommendations about how to spiffy up the layout, please comment (my wife has already let me know the side bars are unreadable). On the other side of the coin, please let me know if and/or what you do like as well.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Mix March Madness

by Scott Lincoln on March 26, 2012 at 2:56 pm
Posted In: News, Events and Secrets

Uugh! I didn’t realize ComicMix.com had a Mix March Madness Webcomic Tournament! We just discovered it doing a random “Ralf the Destroyer” search. I would, however, like to thank the readers who thought of Ralf the Destroyer, nominated it and for those who were able to vote for it in the first round!

If I had known I would have campaigned a bit more by posting about it sooner and yacking about it on Facebook and Twitter a bit. Aside from that there are a bunch of great comics over there that can still use your vote, so mosey on over there and help your other favorites out!

Child Theme Needed

by Scott Lincoln on March 12, 2012 at 10:22 am

I have been aware now for a while that ralfthedestroyer.com has some serious navigation issues. I was trying to repair this myself, but sadly as my artistic skill seems to increase, my (already limited) html/php skill diminishes. I had attempted to write a child theme to recreate the same basic look I have now, but was unable to make the pieces all line up. I think certain files may have gotten corrupted over time as I tried various compression methods. I think I just need to update Comicpress to a newer version, but for that I need a child theme. If you are or know someone who is fluent in the Comicpress theme/plug-in, send me a note to Scott@ralfthedestroyer.com and let me know who, when, and what rates are available.

Thanks for your patience in this matter.

Shout Out – Luke Foster

by Scott Lincoln on February 10, 2012 at 9:23 am
Posted In: Sightings & Sketches

Fellow Connecticut web cartoonist Luke Foster had a nice interview on the site Champion City Comics. Luke’s web comic Moon Freight 3 is linked in the left column and has been running steadily for a while now. I also wanted to show my appreciation as when he was asked which Sci-Fi webcomics does he read on a regular basis, Ralf the Destroyer was in the top four. Thanks for the shout out Luke!

Tales From the Floating Vagabond

by Scott Lincoln on February 9, 2012 at 9:02 am

For those of you out there that don’t already know, I was hire by Lee Garvin who is the creator of the highly entertaining Role Playing Game, Tales from the Floating Vagabond. This has been a monumental project and if I seem like I’m not commenting as much it’s likely I am chopping away at the pile of assignments that are due with this project. So far it has been a lot of fun and has stretched my abilities, I think it may be some of my best work to date. So be sure to go check out his website, where he is posting updates and progress on the project.
